Connecting ourselves: gNet relaunch and a new digital workplace
Staying connected with our teams and enhancing the ways we work together and do business are fundamental to our company’s success.
Operating in an environment which is safe, secure and where we can all effectively and effortlessly collaborate and communicate globally, regionally and locally is an absolute must when consider the scope of the transformation taking place at GfK.
We are on a journey towards becoming a truly digital organization and have the product portfolio and innovative research methodologies to back this up – that’s clear. But, we must continue to build on this, not only externally, but internally if we are to really maximize our potential and bring added value to clients.
So, what’s Next?
In the coming months you will hear a lot about Next Generation Workplace and gNet Next – including details on exactly what they are, their features, timelines and how these will impact your day to day activities.
Launching at the end of this year and the beginning of 2017, together these projects will significantly improve how we work, changing the look & feel, performance and stability of our systems and platforms.
Let’s take a closer look at each work stream.
gNet Next: More than just an intranet
Coming at the end of 2016 – gNet Next will be a new and improved version of our existing intranet platform. This relaunch will help to further improve how we communicate, collaborate and share knowledge within GfK.
gNet Next will be based on SharePoint 2013 and will include an improved search functionality, faster loading times and a responsive, more user friendly design.
Additionally, selected areas will be optimized for mobile viewing, allowing users to read news content directly from their mobile devices.
You will find more information on gNet Next here.
Next Generation Workplace (NgW): The beginning of a new standardized way of working
In parallel with gNet Next, NgW will see Group IT simplify, consolidate and optimize our systems to standardize the way we work.
First of all, this means that everyone in the company will benefit from an enhanced user experience – the project will oversee the global rollout of Windows 10 and its supporting software to ensure we are working in the best possible IT environment.
As well as this, NgW will increase our enterprise mobility. This will enable us to access data from anywhere, making working across borders and offices a seamless and flexible process.
And the project will, of course, also enforce and reinforce the security measures in place at GfK to safeguard our work and data.
