The large bar area within the Rajah Hotel complex on Sukhumvit Soi 4 that is home to Strikers and Hillary 1 is set for a major redevelopment in the months ahead.
Plans have been rubber-stamped for the area to be transformed into a two storey complex of bars and restaurants.
Bar owners have been notified of the plans and told to find new homes whilst the building work takes place, with timescales are rumoured to be as soon as next month, although I couldn’t get a concrete answer with different dates coming from different sources.
The building that is home to Strikers will be demolished and completely rebuilt from the ground up and could take upwards of a year to complete.
It seems to be a different story on the section that is home to Hillary 1, who are hoping to be closed for around 4 months, as that building only requires a refurb as part of the plan and isn’t being bulldozed.
It took me several days to piece this story together as depending on who you ask depends on what you hear but the redevelopment is on the cards, and work will be starting sooner rather than later.
I’d expect rents to rise significantly with the like of Starbucks being touted as possible new tenants but all in all the redevelopment sounds like good news for Soi 4.
