A transplanting and harvesting regime for lettuce was devised to stabilize lettuce biomass during experimental trials. This regime, though different from commercial practice, provided stable lettuce biomass levels for the duration of each 28-day experimental trial, minimized variation in the ratios of fish and plant biomass, and allowed for plants of different ages to be removed during each trial for proximate analyses. Both control and integrated systems had equivalent biomasses of lettuce that were comprised of four different ages, each separated in age by seven days.
