OPTIMAL SOURCE IN RIC SYSTEMS: INPUT AND
OUTPUT IMPEDANCE MATCHING
The efficiency has been defined differently in the literature:
while some of the studies calculated the efficiency as the ratio
of the currents in the source and device coils (which doesn’t
take into account the coupling between source and load) [2]
[3] other studies reported the efficiency as the ratio between
the power available from the source to the power dissipated in
the load [5]. To take into account the impedance of the source,
it is necessary to re-write the efficiency and quantify the power
reflected at the source. Using circuit theory, we can recalculate
the efficiency as the ratio between the power dissipated on the
load and the power delivered to the source coil extracted from
the power source:
