The reordering of space and time
We noted earlier how the use of technical media of communication can alter the spatial and temporal dimensions of social life. By enabling individuals to communicate across extended stretches of space and time, the use of technical media enables individuals to transcend the spatial and temporal boundaries characteristic of face-to-face interaction. At the same time, it enables individuals to reorder the spatial and temporal features of social organization, and to use these reordered features as a means of pursuing their objectives.
