Second conditional sentences describe “unreal” or imaginary situations. Use a past tense verb in the if clause (the condition). Use would in the main clause.
Ex : If I had more money, I would buy a camcorder.
What would you do if you had more money?
The second conditional uses the past simple after if, then 'would' and the infinitive:
if + past simple, ...would + infinitive
***(We can use 'were' instead of 'was' with 'I' and 'he/she/it'. This is mostly done in formal writing).
It has two uses.
