KIng Borommatrailokkanat also established the Sakdina (feudal) system. Under this system the amount of land people could own was dependent on their rank. The land was measured according to the rice produced on it. The higher the rank, the more land was allowed.
Sakdina was used to separate people according to their rank or status. The privileges of rank could be taken away if teh holder did not carry out his duties with honour or was thought to be against the King.
Under King Borommatrailokkanat the government was divided as before into civil service administration and district administration. However the central government was split into two separate sections:
