Christianity
Christanity is the religion based on the teachings of jesus Christ. There are about 1.6 billion christians in the world. Most belong to one of the three main branches of Christianity:the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, or one of the various Protestant churches.
Jesus Christ lived from about 4 B.C. to about A.D. 29. He preached and taught in Palestine. Christians believe that Chist is the Son of God. Most Christians also believe that there is one God in three persons:God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Once, all Christians belonged to the Roman Catholic Church. In 1054, a large group broke away from the Roman Catholic Church to from the Eastern Orthodox Church. In the 1500s, other Christians called Protestants also broke away to from Protastant churches.
