The MA in Urban Affairs Program trains students to be specialists in analyzing the policy challenges of 21st Century urbanism. It provides students with the skills and knowledge to be effective leaders in community-driven urban policy and projects.
The program combines graduate seminars in urban studies, politics, sociology and public policy with hands-on experience in community-based research, policy design, policy analysis and implementation. Graduates are uniquely equipped to formulate policy and initiatives for more equitable and vibrant urban areas.
The program and its students leverage the advantages of the unique location in San Francisco and Northern California - one of the most dynamic urban environments in the United States and the world. Students develop practical research and policy development skills from their extensive engagement in San Francisco and Bay Area communities
