Fig.3 shows two types of control strategy during CD
operation. All Electric (AE) control strategy is full electric
vehicle based on a traditional control method. The
vehicle runs as an electric vehicle without ICE running
when the SOC level is high enough. Blended control
uses both ICE and motor, even when SOC is high,
allowing gradual decline of SOC. When SOC becomes
low, CD switches to CS, for both AE and blended control.
On AE control, the transition point from CD to CS is easy
to define. It is the timing that ICE is first activated.
However, the transition point from CD to CS in blended
control is not always easy to define.
