Endpoint Protection is designed to increase job efficiency for two distinct corporate functions:
A- CISO or Security Officers
Addresses the organizational needs of confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of information. Often referred to as CIA.
Sets information security policy and identifies and minimizes data loss risk. He is typically an influencer that works with the IT Staff to evaluate a solution.
Organizations over 500 employees are required to have a separate function for this title.
B-DESKTOP or ENDPOINT ADMIN
Their job is to onboard, support and terminate employee devices one of the primary benefits of the EP solution.
Onboarding includes set up of users and assigning their access rights. Admins are responsible for the initial installation and deployment and help in case of failure and loss of files or devices.
When employees are terminated, the Admin ensures that access is revoked, data is retrieved and equipment returned. When equipment upgrades have to take place, the Admin is in charge of transferring data from the old equipment to the new.
At larger organizations Desktop Admin/IT Manager typically holds the budget and makes the final purchase decision in conjunction with the Desktop Admin and Security Officer. In smaller organizations IT Admin often holds all positions.
