Just for the record I do agree - rather not do the cleanse in the first place, I'm just curious as to why she changed the recipe...

I think fasting and cleansing can go hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle if done properly. My husband had the worse case of IBS and could not eat anything with tomatoes. He did do the master cleanse some years ago and he had fewer IBS episodes. Was it the master cleanse? I don't know but something changed for him afterward.
I'm also curious why you're leaving out the maple syrup. From what I remember about the diet, you should still get about 800 or so calories from the maple syrup. It's all sugar, which is needed for the brain. You should at the very least try the master cleanse the way it was intended. But if you still feel fainting spells, then please try something else. Fainting is not condoned on any kind of fast.
