First, we simultaneously tested the stability of the housekeeping
genes and the GOIs. As recently described by Salces-Ortiz et al. (2013),
this is a crucial aspect in gene expression studies to avoid choosing
housekeeping genes that are less stable than the GOIs to normalise
their expression. In this sense, B2M and YWHAZ were previously selected
from 8 candidate housekeeping genes tested with Norm Finder and
geNorm software in a different study of the same type of muscle
(L. thoracis) and were found to be the most stable pair (Dervishi et al.,
2012); however, these housekeeping genes were less stable in the present
study.
