Orchids are not only important in terms of economical
aspects but also attractive in terms of ecological issues, like
the diversity of species. Rhynchostylis is a genus of monopodial
growth habit and native to Southeast Asia (Thailand,
Lao, and Vietnam) including about 4 to 5 native species in
Thailand. Many attractive Rhynchostylis orchids have
become commercially important in potted plant industries.
These species needed to be protected from the danger of
extermination through deforestation. Therefore, a rapid multiplication
in commercial scale by micropropagation of this
species is required.
