In product design, the designer needs to use many types
of information, including both product-user requirements
and design developments in related fields. The
CR medicine packaging has been an important issue
to designers and manufacturers. Most designers and
manufacturers explicitly stress enhancing the design
of CR medicine packaging. However, their efforts to
improve the quality of CR medicine packaging products
are still limited and leave a substantial amount of
improvements for the future.
This research examined the applicability of CR
medicine packaging for domestic users and analyzed incidents of misuse by children. Design parameters for
child-resistant medicine packaging were proposed, and
the ideal combination of these parameters was determined.
This may help designers to assess their work
objectively and develop designs for safety-oriented CR
medicine packaging.
Even though this research provides designers with
the most effective methodology for designing CR medicine
packaging, two areas remain to be further studied
to ensure that the findings of this research will be more
reliable in both experimentation and application.
1. Studies to confirm the actions involved in
opening CR medicine packaging to define
measuring methods for humans.
2. Studies of the comfort of opening CR medicine
packaging for individuals older than age 12.
Because the experimental design of this research
focused on children age 6 years and
younger, additional exploration of the operational
requirements of individuals age 65 years
and older could further refine the research and
CR medicine packaging designs.
