The research objectives of this study were to describe
the following: 1) physical medicine and rehabilitation
staffing patterns in burn care with particular
attention to physical therapy and occupational therapy
coverage for patients with burns, 2) work responsibilities
of physical therapists and occupational therapists
involved in burn care, 3) methods of contracture
control for patients with burns, 4) physical therapy
follow-up provided for patients with burns, 5)
respondents' perceptions about the adequacy of physical
therapy coverage for patients with burns and
recommendations for change, and 6) respondents'
perceptions about physical therapy staff turnover in
burn care.
