Yes Mam!
:]
You may not realize it, but "Yes Mam" is a play on words in English... a form of a pun. Here we have the word "madam", which is a respectful way to refer to a woman. The abbreviation for "madam" is Ma'am. So here you hear people say "Yes Ma'am" a lot! In fact, every young boy and girl in the south (US south, that is) learns that it's polite to say "Yes Ma'am", "No Ma'am", "Yes Sir" and "No Sir" at a very early age.
Therefore, when I say "Yes Mam", not only am I saying your name... I'm offering respect as well.

I've visited your profile many times. Happy Tuesday to you in Warin Chamrap, Thailand from Southern Pines, North Carolina. How is your endeavor to learn English going?

PS - I'm heading to bed soon (it's 1:30 AM here on the US east coast), but I promise to write back when I can.
