Singaporean women holding the blue or orange Community Health Assist Scheme (Chas) card and who are at least 50 years old can now get free breast-cancer screenings.
The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), which officially opened its mammogram facility yesterday, will pay for the screening fee of $50. This financial assistance scheme is for an initial period of three years, after which it will be reviewed to see if it should be extended.
SCS chairman Choo Eng Chuan said: "Our aim is to get more Singaporean females in the lower- to middle-income groups to go for early cancer screening."
