which this value reached 0.90 (Table 4). This study clearly
demonstrated that the secondary traits included in the present
study were predicted to be less effective in improving yield
under stress and confirmed the earlier report of Atlin and Lafitte
(2002). The study further indicated that indirect selection for
grain yield under lowland non-stress will be less efficient as
compared to direct selection under lowland reproductive stage
drought stress and confirmed the similar finding reported earlier
(Venuprasad et al., 2007) under upland stress.
