Peter: I think all this talk about pollution, acid rain and the ozone layer is just a lot of fuss about nothing. They don’t affect us. Don’t you agree, Sally?
Sally: A fuss of nothing? How would you like to eat contaminated food and suffer rashes on your skin because of acid rain? Peter: Of course, I wouldn’t like it at all. But what I mean is, these are problems for the government to solve. What can we do as ordinary people?
Sally: Plenty, Peter. We can stop throwing rubbish into drains and rivers. We can try to conserve water and electricity. We can stop using aerosol sprays. These contains CFCs which cause the thinning of the ozone layer.
Peter: We can also plant more trees and use recycled paper. I see what you mean .
