Somkid mission to woo European investors

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak will lead a government mission to France and Germany from October 4-8 to talk with their leading companies and France’s employer council about investing in Thailand.
Hiranya Sujinai, secretary-general of the Board of Investment, said yesterday that meetings would be made with hi-tech auto parts makers on an individual basis, as all of them planned to invest in Asia and Asean, but have not yet decided which country.Somkid will also visit Technischet Darmstadt, a research university established in Germany to drive the SME 4.0 policy for SMEs with a focus on digital technology for manufacturing and work processes.
The aim was to form guidelines for upgrading Thai SMEs to "SME 4.0".
In the past three years, about 86 German investment projects worth Bt16.49 billion applied for privileges, while 50 projects from France worth Bt1.39 billion applied for incentives. In the first seven months of this year, 15 German projects worth about Bt1.4 billion and 12 French projects worth Bt64 million applied for BoI promotion.
Maggi's veg fest campaign
Nestle (Thai) will launch the "Maggi Flavour You Can See" caravan to promote the Vegetarian Festival. Maggi cooking sauce is made using natural fermentation as a helper for cooking to give foods a more appetising, aromatic and delicious taste. The caravan will encourage families to enjoy the Vegetarian Festival, which runs for nine days from October 1-9. The caravan will visit markets in three provinces -- Sri Nakhon Market in Nakhon Sawan, Kim Yong Market in Songkhla and Kaset 2 Market in Phuket
