Hydroxyl radical was an important oxidant both in oxygen
and air when Aconitum alkaloids were treated by non-thermal
plasma. The generation of OH· in the presence of water during
non-thermal plasma treatment mainly follows Reaction (2)
(Sato et al., 2010):

When oxygen was introduced into the reactor, oxygen
reacted with plasma and other radicals, then many highly
reactive radicals like HU, OHU, OU and O3 were generated by
Reactions (3), (4) and (5) (Marotta et al., 2011):
O2 þ e→2O• þ e ð3Þ
O2 þ O•→O3 ð4Þ
O• þ H2O→2OH•: ð5Þ
