Four types of commercially activated carbon (labeled as AC1,
AC2, AC3 and AC4 further in the text) were used in preparing the
novel integrated carbon materials, Pb@C, which were aimed to
study in this paper as integrated conductive additive for negative
plate of lead-acid batteries. The basic characteristics of the types of
carbon used in this study are summarized in Table 1. As evident
from the table, activated carbon of AC2 has the largest BET surface
(Micromeritics-ASAP2020, America), and all activated carbons
consist of mesopores which has been evidenced facilitating the
adsorption of lead (Ⅱ) ions [25].
Following method was used for synthesizing Pb@C materials:
Firstly, dissolving appropriate amount of Pb(NO3)2 in deionized
water to obtain a stock solution of lead(Ⅱ) ions with a concentration
of 1000 mg L1
. Then putting the flasks containing above solution in
a stirring incubatorshaker with a speed of 200 rpm for a certain
time. A schematic diagram of this process is shown in Fig. 1.
