Method of Service for Home Care
Culturally appropriate and gender responsive services to our target
group.
1. Thrive is culturally and gender sensitive to the population we serve. Treating and serving each
child the same, while at the same time celebrating their cultural difference is a focus of our
program.
2. Celebration of cultural holidays keeps Thai traditions and instill those in our children.
3. Tasting and experiencing foods, arts and activities from different ethnicities or regions of Thailand
allows our children to expand its tolerance and acceptance for one another.
4. We have recreational programs that target specific gender related activities: i.e. hair and nail salon
time, sports, movies etc.
5. Toys and books that are gender responsive and age appropriate will be available to all children.
6. Age appropriate “growing up” programs for our children help them deal with issues they may face.
This program is gender sensitive and includes but not limited to the following:
a. Proper hygiene
b. Changes in their bodies; Physically, Emotionally, & Sexually
c. Appropriate touching, holding and physical boundaries
d. The danger of strangers
e. Peer pressure: Drug, sex, alcohol and trafficking related topics
f. Life skills: nutrition (cooking and shopping), child care, finance, household management.
Training in child welfare and cultural competency will be provided to
all staff.
The training of staff is essential to the success of our staff.
1. Pre employment training is required by all staff.
2. A minimum of 24 hours a year of continued training is required for full-time staff.
3. Training topics include:
a. Cross-cultural parenting: religious, cultural heritage and skill training
b. Child management and development
c. Discipline, crisis intervention, behavior techniques
d. Health care issues and procedures
e. Attachment and separation issues
f. Professional ethics
g. Child trafficking prevention and aftercare
