The similar kind of findings was reported earlier in the case of Pseudomonassp. for Cu2þ, Pb2þ, and Zn2þ removal (Gulay et al., 2003) and Bacillus sp. for Cr3þ removal (Srinath et al., 2002). Such behavior of bacterial isolates might be dependent upon the available concentration of the metals (Adour et al., 1999). All these results clearly demonstrate the potential of heavy metal-resistant bacteria, especially Pseudomonas sp., for remediation of contaminated environment.
