The Simpson’s index (i.e. the probability that
two randomly selected individuals in the community belong to the same category) was 0.1709 and
the Simpson’s diversity index (i.e. the probability
that two randomly selected individuals in a community belong to different species) was 0.8291. A
value of 5.8 was obtained as the reciprocal of Simpson index; a total number of 151 species was recorded during the survey.
