treating the wound infection caused by staphylococcus aureus can be done using antibiotics, which may have more severe sideeffects including antibiotic resistance. this research aims to study the efficiency of crude extract from piper sarmentosum roxb. against s. aureus and develop the medical transdermal patch that can cure chronic wound infection. P sarmentosum roxb. were extracted by 95% methanol and investigated for antibacterial activity, against S. aureus, by agar disc diffusion method. the results showed that the crude extract of the plant had been inhibted the growth of bacteria therefore, 22% (w/v) concentrationof the crude extract was applied to medical transdermal patch inhibit s. aureus. the results indicated that the medical transdermal patch had been inhibited growth of bacteria in addition 22% (w/v) the plant extract and 2% (w/v) streptomycin had no significal different inhibition zones. p. sarmentosum roxb. extract couldbe usedas compositionin medical transdermal patch for disinfectant products.
