Money is an illusion, a myth we believe because it makes life easier for those who have it. It is the carrot in a confidence game played at the highest levels of society, designed to benefit the wealthy at the expense of the poor. Lacking it is the stick needed to coerce everyone's participation in the economy.
It is the tool governments use to make good things happen for those in power. It is nothing more than a promise, and a method of making people believe they have much when they really have little. If the government borrows and spends trillions to finance a war, people feel wealthy even when they cannot buy necessities. Money has no intrinsic value. You can't eat money. If I have a dollar in my pocket or a million in the bank, I will starve unless someone will trade me food for it.
Money depends on a stable economic system in order to perform its function, so it abandons us when we need it most. It is like an addictive drug; once you have tried it, you can't get enough. Money is a lot of things, but it isn't everything.
