I will try to compare and contrast. My childhood home in Pak Chong in the North East of Thailand and Chonburi where I studied, live and work now.
Pak Chong is a rural community in North East of Thailand (E-san). It is a farming community where the people follow a more simple life, without many of the modern conveniences and facilities the people Chonburi here.
Pak Chong is set near a riverside and many of the roads are unfinished. Here the people live from the land, the villages are small, people live in traditional Thai houses with a strong feeling of community, often without strong mobile phone signals and often no electricity. But they are happy and enjoy this simple way of living.
In contrast Chonburi is close to Bangkok, with one of the biggest industrial estates in Thailand. Here people drive fast expensive cars, go shopping in modern air-conditioned malls, eat out at the thousands of restaurants, and come from every part of the world.
In comparison to Pak Chong life is fast, but the traffic jams are horrible, people complain if their 3G internet is slow and many people live in modern air-conditioned apartments. Here the sense of community is low, people are more selfish and seem to have lost a sense of community. I think if we took the positives things from Thailand is farming community and mixed them with the positives things about Chonburi, that would be the perfect place to live.
