The presence of capsaicin in the silica matrix can be verified by the FTIR spectra (Figure 3).
For the original wool fabric, the spectrum showed two dominant vibration bands around 1655 cm_1
(CO stretch) and 1550 cm_1 (N-H bend), and a weak band at 1470 cm_1 (C-N stretch), which represent amides I, II and III, respectively. There are strong peaks in the C-H stretching regions at 2930 and 2850 cm_1.
