Hi Mint,
It’s just a few days away now! I know that you must be excited about the adventure that you are about to begin.
I don’t know if you have any information about us so I can tell you a little bit about your new house.
We have 4 members in our family, Darren(dad), Noelle, Zoe and myself. Five members if you include our dog Tavi!
Noelle is in college away from home so she doesn’t live at our house during the school semester, only in the summertime. Zoe went on exchange to Ecuador last year so the knows how you are feeling right now and hopefully she will be able to help you with any questions or difficulties. She will also be at the same school as you, although your classes will be different. The high school that you will attend has about 1300 students 9th-12th grade.
Our town, Luling, is kind of small but we are 30 minutes from New Orleans and there is always a wide variety of things to do there. Our family enjoys music especially jazz and we like to attend the many music and food festivals that take place in New Orleans. I know that you like music so I think that this is something you will enjoy about living here.
Right now it is very hot, about 96F and it will likely be like this until the end of September. In the middle of October it gets a little cooler but you’ll probably still be wearing shorts until almost December. January and February are the coldest months about 50F and dipping down to freezing a few nights out of the year.
On Wednesday I have a meeting at your school to make your schedule so when you get here on August 4th I should know all of your classes for the school year.
Please let your parents know that as long as you are here you we will protect you and look after you and I will be there for you just like you are my own daughter.
You can look for Zoe Gassen on Facebook she is the only one that has a personal Facebook account.
See You SOON!!!
Sincerely,
Jennifer, Darren, Noelle & Zoe
