Blood in French Relic Didn´t Belong to Louis XVI
The DNA found inside a 200-year-old gourd was not the DNA of France´s final monarch, a genetic analyis shows.
Instead, the DNA encased in the French relic appears to have belonged to a man not as tall as the king. Furthermore, the source of the preserved blood probably had brown eyes - not blue like Louis XVI.
The person whose blood was contained in the gourd probably was the descendant of people from Northern Italy, researchers say. Louis XVI was beheaded by guillotine during the French Revolution.
