in shell eggs versus those from Salmonella
in egg products. The Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) conducts surveillance for
illnesses from Salmonella through two programs:
the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance
Network (FoodNet) and the National
Salmonella Surveillance System of the Public
Health Laboratory Information System (PHLIS).
