- Terracing is the cutting of steps around the sides of hills. Crops are grown on these steps or terraces. It reduces soil erosion from the sides of hills. It also holds water inteh soil.
Water
Water is the most important natural resource for living things on the Earth. Without water there would be no life and probably no atmosphere.
Because over 70% of the world is covered by seas, nearly 97% of all water is salty. For this reason, fresh water is very precious.
Although people recognise its importance, they still pollute rivers lakes and oceans.
