This 2010 Annual Report for Sea Pines Country Club
contains many positive accounts of the accomplishments
and developments that have occurred over the
past year. With the contributions of our talented volunteer
leadership, the Club’s staff and our management
team, we have achieved success by many measures.
As is always the case, our successes are directly related
to these contributions and to your support and
use of the Club.
Our biggest accomplishment for fiscal year 2010 came
at the end of the year in the form of the Club’s very
successful membership campaign. The increase in
membership will have more of an impact on results for
fiscal year 2011, as most of the new members joined
in the months of November and December after the
closing of books on 2010. Nonetheless, the gain in
membership income was significant and had positive
impact on results from operations and Club cash flows.
Our financial accomplishments included ending the
year with a strong cash position and continued efficient
use of Club resources and control of spending.
This report provides information detailing the many
significant changes which will have a positive impact
on our financial reporting in the future. The Club
changed accounting partners in fiscal year 2010 and
effected many appropriate accounting changes.
Our committee reports highlight the accomplishments
of the year and recount the activity that resulted from
strong continued member usage and participation in
Club events and activities. Several events throughout
the year resulted in sold out status and participation
in most events was very good. Member satisfaction
with services and the Club’s products remains high
and efforts to improve the Club continue.
We reinvested in our facilities in 2010. Restrooms on
the golf course were renovated, the parking lot was
resealed, a new safety net was installed on the driving
range, new lighting for the parking lot was approved
and partially funded in 2010, the spa was refurbished
and several new pieces of fitness equipment were
leased or purchased.
In addition to this, plans were forged to redecorate the
Clubhouse and bring about a fresh new look to Club.
Sea Pines Country Club demonstrated once again the
support that the Club’s members have for charitable
causes. The Club has hosted the Play for P.I.N.K. and
the Candy Cane Classic for close to 10 years. In this
time contributions from Club members have totaled
over $500,000 for these two events. In this same spirit,
the Club hosted the Tee It Up For The Troops golf
tournament. The inaugural event was a sell out and
included 60 active duty service personnel from the
Marine Air Station and Parris Island. These events
involve many man hours by Club volunteers who
work selflessly for the betterment of those supported
by these important organizations.
We have recently learned that our Club’s wine program
was honored by the CMAA International Wine
Society with the Award of Distinction. This marks the
second consecutive year the Club has received this
award. The efforts of our Food and Beverage team
and Wine Committee have contributed to development
of a world class wine program for the enjoyment
of all Sea Pines members.
These and the other accomplishments highlighted in
the report have increased the momentum of the Club’s
progress on the road to excellence. While we have
many challenges facing us, Sea Pines Country Club
is endowed with talented and energized volunteers, a
dedicated professional staff of the highest quality and
a membership that enjoys and supports the Club. With
these assets at our disposal our possibilities are as limitless
as our vision. To all who have participated and
helped realize the accomplishments of this year-thank
you!
