The most important activity of leadership is to be attuned to
new realities.
• By definition, reality does not go away.
• It cannot be wished or ignored away.
• Reality is actuality.
• It is the truth.
• If we talk about ethical principles such as honesty, truthfulness,
integrity or transparency we are referring to ethical ideals that
focus on what is real:
• Here is where we can see how leadership and ethics are directly
related.
• If we agree that leadership is first and foremost about facing
reality and helping others do that too, we can see that
leadership is intrinsically an ethical endeavor.
