Dear Committee Members,
Having a view from the photographs of the cracks, I might have an opinion that the cracks are on the architectural walls, not the structures. Therefore, the effect of the cracks should not concern safety. However, the leaking of rain water through the cracks might occurs that can damage the interior of the room.
The exact reason for the crack is to be investigated further. Nevertheless, the nature of the concrete structure is flexure. It deflects when subjected to loading. It bounces back when unloading. Difference in temperature between day and night, or the side that faces direct sunlight and the temperature inside the room, also causes movement of the structure. The deflection is very obvious in cantilevered structure. If a masonry wall is located on the deflectable structure, it tends to have cracks easily. Generally, the construction of the masonry wall has to have lintel and vertical wall column (เสาเอ็น). The top most row of the bricks should be laid inclined in order to allow some movement of the wall relative to the structure. Exterior wall should have grooves at the positions of beam and column so that the cracks will be along the grooves.
In my opinion, we should inject the flexible epoxy into the cracks so that the water cannot leak in. We, then, repair the exterior wall and make grooves at the position of beams and columns (if any) so that the cracks will be in the grooves and will be less visible.
sincerely yours,
