The south system uses the No. S and No. 7 shafts as intakes, providing approximately 21,000 m3 (7SO,OOO ft3) of air per minute. The air is exhausted from the No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 shafts. The entire mine, including old workings. is ventilated. Stoppings consist of wooden or muck bulkheads and, closer to production panels, curtain lines. Stoppings norma11y separate the intake air entries and main travelways from the exhaust rooms
and conveyor beJt lines. VentiJation doors are located at most belt
drives to provide access ro the belt lines.
