All the theories show that events do not automatically lead to specific emotions. They also propose that no single factor is responsible for emotions. Instead, a picture emerges that shows emotions to be a combination of arousal, facial expressions, behavior, environmental events, and cognitive interpretation. Changes in any of these factors may alter the emotion that is experienced. Thus, although there is some question as to what components are most central and how these components are combined, we can see that emotions represent a unique combination of the mind and body.
