2.6.5. Split-root test
Seedlings of the two genotypes and the bacterial inocula were
prepared as described above. The roots of four week old tomato
plants were splitted into two equal parts by cutting the lower
few centimeters of the stem vertically. Arrays of two connected
pots each in separate plastic bags were filled with about 200 g of
soil (Fruhstorfer Erde, type P: 150 mg L1 N, 150 mg L1 P2O5,
and 250 mg L1 K2O).
