This capsule hotel is much more modern and luxurious than most others. The spa facilities are great and the capsules are spacious and comfortable. The staff speak decent English. A big bonus is that you don't have to check out and check in every day as in most other capsule hotels, although you do have to be out of your capsule between 12pm and 3pm. Food at the restaurant was reasonably priced. All the other inconveniences are those associated with staying in any capsule hotel: having to leave your baggage at reception, the fact that it is men only etc.
I was curious about the etiquette before I visited as their site didn't explain it too well, so here goes...
If you just want to use the place as a hotel and aren't too interested in the spa: check in, leave your big bag at reception, put your valuables and maybe a change of clothes in your locker, then head through to your capsule. You're not obliged to change into the blue shorts they provide. When you want to shower, put your clothes in your locker, throw on a pair of blue shorts and head to the showers via the restaurant (it's always full of people wearing just shorts or robes, so it's no big deal). When you're in the showers, throw your shorts in one of the bins provided, and go to one of the shower stations. Soap, shampoo etc is provided. When you're done dry yourself off with the provided towels, throw on a new pair of blue shorts and a bath robe. You can then change back, or just go back to your capsule like that.
Most people seemed to do the spa in a kind of circuit. Change into blue shorts, go up the stairs by the laundry desk, which takes you into the sauna. You can then go out of the sauna into the area with hot tubs, cool baths, pool, steam room, tanning machine etc. Go down the spiral staircase in the middle of the room and you'll find yourself in the shower room, where you can wash and get a towel and robe.
Some rules:
- You MUST rinse yourself off thoroughly before you get in the baths (particularly if you've been in the sauna). There are showers opposite the steam room, or you can use the scoops by the cool bath
- You must take the blue shorts off before you get in the baths, and must put them on when you go in the sauna. There are stations all around with fresh shorts and towels etc
- I don't know if there's a rule against wearing the shorts in the showers, but I'm pretty sure everyone will think you're weird if you do
- In the sauna, it seems customary to sit on a towel, or on one of the provided seat pads. One should also be used for your feet
- It's completely fine to wander round the hotel in your robe, so enjoy!
Hopefully help you avoid any faux pas!
