In Nyāya-Vaiśeṣika teaching, once one has reached mokṣa, one realizes that the normal manifestations of manas (self), such as pleasure, pain, etc., are of no consequence. In this way, one has transcended the bodily self. This understanding is considered “right knowledge.”
On the other hand, ignorance of the ultimate inconsequence of manas (self) keeps us bound to the world. Logical understanding of the world is the key to overcoming this bondage.
Our bondage to the world of saṃsāra manifests both as dharmic (good) and adharmic (bad) behavior.
