Known advantages of the renewable and environmentally
friendly biofuels, associated with the potential to decrease the
dependence on petrofuels, have led to intense research on
different process alternatives that allow biofuel production in
an economically sustainable manner

conventional catalytic processes cannot make use of such
feedstocks in an efficientmanner without additional pretreatment
steps, because of the presence of high amounts of free
