There are some references to the Daodejing in the Zhuangzi, and some of the chapters are written in a simple way, like the Daodejing. These chapters are critical of societal norms of in ancient times (and favor Daoist values of non-action instead).
Some of the chapters are also concerned with ways to cultivate longevity (long life). Hence, these chapters put more emphasis on the individual self.
Some other chapters combine Daoist and Confucian morality, as well as “Legalist” practices (concern with managing state affairs).
