Google Maps for Mobile is very similar to Google Earth. The interface is different to allow for a smaller screen, limited control, and communication speed. The smaller screen on a cellular phone is accommodated by using a less cluttered background map. When zoomed out, the map is very basic and gets more detailed as the zoom magnification is increased. First the state and
international boundaries appear, and then the county boundaries; roads follow eventually leading to a very detailed map with an aerial view and road signs. The KML files can be accessed through the search address bar by typing in the URL (Uniform Resource Locator), which is the web address for the location of the file. The lack of detail also helps the speed of the streaming images over the cellular signal. The control is also limited due to the lack of buttons on the cellular phone.
