Day tours
Many guesthouses and travel agents offer day tours around the Pai area as well as further afield to Tan Lot, Pang Mapha and Kayah ("long-neck") villages (the latter we don't recommend) near Mae Hong Son. If you don’t have a lot of time to spare or don’t fancy hiring your own motorbike then these can work out well, and are generally good value.
A typical tour might take in Wat Mae Yen, the hot springs, Pai Treehouse, an elephant camp, Memorial Bridge, Pai Canyon, Coffee in Love, Wat Nam Hoo, Santichong and Mae Paeng waterfall -- all of Pai’s hot and not-so-hot spots crammed into a single day.
We’d hesitate to single out any particular tour, as prices and itineraries are generally similar, and any one is going to be pot luck depending upon your group and guide. Most guesthouses can make some suggestions, or go and see what’s on offer on Chaisongkran Road. Expect to pay around 500 baht per person with entrance fees (such as for the hot springs) extra.
