In contrast to current trends to develop novel
polymeric materials based on binary polymer blends
such as PP/EPDM, ethylene–propylene copolymers,
and other high-impact PP materials, the block
copolymer blends, comprising a thermoplastic block
copolymer (ST2) and a TPE (LN4), unite the highimpact
behavior with excellent transparency, and
allow adjustment of the stiffness–toughness ratio over
a wide range. It should be stressed that the
morphology–toughness correlation observed in the
block copolymer blends is fundamentally different
from that of impact-modified or reinforced polymeric
systems with matrix–particle morphology. This study
has demonstrated that utilizing blends of block
copolymers can lead to new materials concepts for
toughened nanostructured transparent polymeric
materials.
