All,
Cypress’ customer Huawei has required us to sign a Corporate Social Responsibility Agreement that includes the following three requirements, for which Cypress does not appear to have corresponding written policies:
• Always wearing seat belts when travelling in or operating vehicles.
• Never using a hand held phone whilst driving and only making calls by pulling over or using hands free devices, when it is safe to do so.
• Never exceeding speed limits or travelling at speeds which are dangerous for the type of road, vehicle or conditions.
It has been proposed that we add these three requirements into Spec GEHS STD-01 Global Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Standards, in section F.1 Employee Travel – General.
My question for you is can you think of any positions within Cypress for which these requirements might be an issue? This would apply to normal business travelers and routine travelers, such as salespersons, auditors, powered industrial trucks users and delivery drivers. Please let me know who else I should be reaching out to prior to adding these requirements to the GEHS Standards.
