Vocabulary learning strategies are a part of language learning strategies
which in turn are a part of general learning strategies (Nation, 2001). So, the definition of vocabulary learning strategy stems that language learning strategies (Catalan, 2003). Cameron (2001) defined vocabulary learning strategies as “the actions that learners take to help themselves understand and remember vocabulary items”. Catalan (2003) adopts the definition of vocabulary learning strategies from Rubin (1987); Wenden (1987); Oxford (1990); and Schmitt (1997) as the working definition in study as “knowledge about the mechanisms (processes, strategies) used in order to learn vocabulary as well as steps or actions taken.
