The performance of BananaGuard is defined by its ability to destroy F. oxysporum upon detection, its ability to compete with other micro-organisms and the stability of the genetic circuit. The ability to destroy F. oxysporum has been tested in vitro. The biological control agents’ ability to compete with other soil born micro-organisms has been modeled in the metabolic model. The stability of the genetic switch will be explored in the following model, there are three key factors in assessing this aspect of the biological control agent: Noise, Leakiness and Induction (figure 9)
